A Busy Summer and Progress on Key Issues
Greetings AfA Members,
As summer approaches, the U.S. Airforwarders Association remains dedicated to advocating for your interests and informing you on critical industry issues. I’d like to highlight recent achievements and upcoming events in this month’s musings.
AfA Secures Win in Federal Reauthorization Legislation
I’m pleased to announce a significant victory for our association. President Biden recently signed into law the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Reauthorization legislation, which includes our AfA-sponsored initiative to address airport truck congestion. This legislation is a significant step forward in enhancing the efficiency of our nation’s supply chain.
The new law mandates a review by the General Accountability Office (GAO) to investigate the root causes of delays at major airport cargo areas. This initiative, championed by AfA Government Relations Director Michael Taylor, demonstrates our association’s ability to effect positive change on behalf of our members.
Committee Contributions Drive AfA’s Success
Our association thrives thanks to the tireless efforts of our dedicated members. I want to express my sincere gratitude to Amanda Barlow and the AfA Technology Committee for hosting another informative webinar in May. These sessions are vital in keeping our members up-to-date on industry trends and technological advancements.
A big thank you also goes out to Bob Imbriani of Team Worldwide for leading the Regulatory Compliance Committee, Aaron Ambrite of AIT Worldwide for chairing the Membership Committee, Donna Mullins for her leadership on the Airport Congestion Committee, and the entire AirCargo 2025 conference committee, which will begin planning for the upcoming event in March.
The hard work and expertise of these committees are essential to the AfA’s ability to deliver value to our members. If you’re not already involved, I encourage you to join a committee and contribute your talents to our success.
Looking Ahead to a Busy Summer
While Washington, DC. may be known for slowing down in the summer months, the AfA will be anything but idle. We will continue representing your interests on Capitol Hill and engaging with various regulatory agencies.
In June, we have planned appearances at the Rickenbacker Logistics & Economic Forum on June 14th in Columbus and a meeting in Chicago on June 20th to discuss the Milwaukee ongoing cargo expansion plans at that airport. Each of these events should hold significant benefits for AfA members.
We look forward to keeping you informed of our ongoing advocacy efforts and industry developments throughout the summer months. In the meantime, please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or suggestions.
Best regards,
Brandon Fried
