Brandon’s Musings : From the Executive Director’s Desk

Dear Members,

A Busy Summer Ahead!

As the summer months roll in, many of us might be envisioning a slight slowdown, perhaps a moment to catch our breath. However, for the Airforwarders Association, July promises to be anything but quiet! Our agenda is packed. This reflects the ongoing commitment of our members to tackle the industry’s most pressing challenges and drive progress.

I’m particularly excited about the inaugural meeting of our newly formed Truck Fraud Committee on July 2nd. Led by our dedicated Board member, David King, this committee will be instrumental in addressing a growing concern that impacts us all. It aims to develop best practices and solutions to safeguard our operations and our customers’ cargo. This proactive step underscores our resolve to combat criminal activity within our sector.

Our essential work on regulatory matters continues with a crucial call from our Regulatory Compliance Committee. It is expertly guided by co-chairs Bob Imbriani of Team Worldwide and Thom Paciello of Kuehne & Nagel. Their tireless efforts ensure that our collective voice is heard in the regulatory landscape. This helps to shape policies that are both effective and practical for our members.

Later in the month, on July 17th, we will convene our Airport Truck Congestion Committee, with Donna Mullins of Kale Logistics at the helm. This ongoing dialogue is vital as we continue to push for improved landside airport infrastructure and more efficient ground handling processes. These are critical to maintaining air cargo’s speed advantage. Your input on these operational bottlenecks is always invaluable.

And keep an eye out for news regarding another exciting initiative from our Technology Committee! Chairs Amanda Barlow (Rock-it Cargo) and Charles Marrale (ExFreight) are preparing another insightful webinar. This is designed to keep you at the forefront of the technological advancements transforming our industry. These sessions are proving to be immensely popular and provide actionable intelligence for your businesses.

Critical Security Program Revisions

On the security front, our industry remains highly engaged. Marc Topel (AIT) is still actively collecting comments for the proposed TSA security program revisions on behalf of our Regulatory Compliance Committee. He looks forward to receiving your feedback, as it’s crucial for us to submit comprehensive input to the agency. The Airforwarders Association will be submitting unified feedback to the TSA for the CCSSSP, SSPAC, and IACSSP on behalf of our membership by the upcoming deadlines. Your expertise is vital to these efforts.

We encourage all members to actively participate in these important committee discussions. Your insights are what make the Airforwarders Association such a powerful advocate for our industry.

Sincerely,

Brandon Signature
